CHICAGOLAND FIRE HIGHLIGHTS - 1996 volume #1
60 minutes in length At 60 minutes in length this video features 11 fires that occurred between October of 1995 and February of 1996. This is the only video in our collection which features fires from a year that is different than the title of the video. Of particular interest on this video is the 5-11 from 3500 S Cottage Grove, where dozens of people were rescued from upper floors of a CHA high-rise. A jumper was also caught on tape who survived with serious injuries. Also on this tape is a firefighter bailing out a 2nd floor window from a 2-flat after a flashover occurred at 3800 W Maypole. And last major note on this tape was a baby who was thrown from a 2nd floor window to people below from a fire at 4000 N Bernard. This is video that was seen around the world. The baby was unijured and both the mother and another occupant were rescued soon after by ground ladder. 1) CALUMET CITY - 100 Plummer, 4th alarm factory fire - PHOTO GALLERY |
